The MGrx uses precisely controlled thermal energy combined with gentle mechanical expression to treat meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), the leading cause of evaporative dry eye. The device applies consistent heat to the eyelid margins to liquefy inspissated meibum, followed by gentle massage to express the glands and restore normal lipid layer function.
Thermal Exfoliation is the first step of the MGrx treatment protocol. Precisely controlled heat is applied to the eyelid margins to soften and loosen debris, biofilm, and crusting that accumulate around the lash follicles and meibomian gland openings — clearing the way for effective gland expression and restoring healthy lid margin hygiene.
Thermal Massage is the second step of the MGrx protocol. Sustained, thermal heat (44C) is delivered across the full eyelid while a gentle massaging action works to liquefy inspissated meibum within the glands. This combination softens the thickened oil secretions so they can be expressed naturally, improving the quality and flow of the tear film lipid layer.
Painless Thermal Gland Expression is the final step of the MGrx treatment. After the glands have been warmed and the meibum liquefied, gentle mechanical pressure is applied to express the softened secretions from the meibomian glands.
